What is Ask Ruubu?

Ask Ruubu is a chat inside the Ruubu resume editor. You say what to change anywhere in your resume, Ruubu prepares the edits and shows each one as a before and after, and you apply them or discard them. It works only with facts from your resume and your messages. When a fact is missing, it asks you.

What you can ask

Change anything in your resume with one sentence

Ruubu can edit every part of the resume: contact details, headline, summary, roles, bullets, every section, the section order and the design. Here are requests it understands, grouped by what they change.

How it works

From a sentence to a better resume in three steps

  1. Say what to change

    Open Ask Ruubu from the editor's top bar, with ⌘K or Ctrl+K, or from Ask on the phone's bottom bar. Type it, or tap the microphone on your phone's keyboard and say it.

  2. Check the before and after

    Ruubu replies in a sentence and lists every change it prepared, each with its before and after. If your request could mean two things, it asks one short question first.

  3. Apply, or undo in one step

    Press Apply and every change lands at once, as one step you can undo. Press Discard and your resume stays exactly as it was. Then ask for the next change.

  • Only your facts

    Every number, employer, date, link and skill comes from your resume or from what you typed. Ruubu checks each change before you see it and leaves out anything it would have had to make up.

  • It asks instead of guessing

    Ask for metrics without giving any and Ruubu asks which number is true. Ask about two roles at once and it asks which one you mean. One short question, never a guess.

  • Preview before every change

    Nothing in your resume changes while you chat. You see the before and after of each change and decide with Apply or Discard.

  • One step to undo

    Everything one Apply changed comes back with one Undo, in the chat or with ⌘Z / Ctrl+Z in the editor.

  • Nothing goes to employers

    Ruubu never sends your resume or your messages to an employer. An employer sees your resume only when you send the file or share its link yourself.

  • Your language, your phone

    Write in English, Turkish, German, French, Spanish or Portuguese. Ruubu replies in your language and writes the resume text in the resume's language. On a phone, dictate with your keyboard's microphone.

Questions about Ask Ruubu

What can I ask Ruubu to change?

Anything in the resume: contact details and links, headline, summary, job titles, companies and dates, bullets, education, certificates, languages, projects, volunteering, awards, memberships, achievements and custom sections, skills and skill groups, the order and visibility of sections, section headings, and the design (template, font, text size, line spacing, margins, date format, page size and colour).

Will Ruubu make up numbers or experience?

No. Ruubu uses only facts from your resume and from the messages you send. Before a change reaches you, it is checked, and any number, employer, date, link or skill that neither source contains is left out. When a fact is missing, Ruubu asks you for it.

Does my resume change while I chat?

No. Each reply comes with a preview of the changes: the before and after of every edit. Your resume changes only when you press Apply, and one Undo reverses everything that Apply changed.

Does Ask Ruubu remember what I said earlier?

Yes, within the conversation. You can answer its question with a few words, such as "the second one" or "2021", or build on an earlier request, and Ruubu carries on from there.

Which languages does it work in?

You can write to Ruubu in English, Turkish, German, French, Spanish or Portuguese. It replies in the language you write in and keeps the resume text in the resume's own language. To move a whole resume into another language, use resume translation.

Can I use it on my phone?

Yes. In the editor on a phone, tap Ask in the bottom bar. You can type, or tap the microphone on your phone's keyboard and say what to change.

What can't Ask Ruubu do?

It edits the resume you have open. It does not translate the whole resume, write cover letters, prepare interview questions, score your resume or find jobs: Ruubu has separate tools for each, and Ask Ruubu tells you where to go. It also declines requests to present something untrue.
