Job description keyword matcher

A job description keyword matcher compares the words a job posting asks for with the words on your resume. Paste both and you get a match score out of 100, the keywords you already cover and the ones you are missing, most important first. It is free, needs no sign-up, and pasted text stays in your browser.

Paste the full posting, including the requirements.

Paste the text of your resume, or upload a PDF, DOCX or TXT file.

Pasted text is matched in your browser and never sent to us. Uploaded files are turned into text on our server and not saved.

  • Free, no account, no daily limit
  • Pasted text is matched in your browser
  • No AI: the same text always gives the same score
  • Reads postings in English, Turkish, German, French, Spanish and Portuguese

How it works

How is the keyword match score calculated?

The matcher pulls up to 60 keywords from the posting: named tools and skills, plus words and two-word phrases the posting repeats. Each keyword is weighted by how often it appears and doubled when it sits under requirements or qualifications. Your score is the weighted share you cover, on a 0 to 100 scale.

What the matcher counts
StepRule
Which words countTools and skills from our skills catalog, plus words and two-word phrases the posting repeats or lists under requirements. Filler words and generic terms such as "team" or "experience" are dropped.
What weighs moreFrequency, up to 3 mentions, times 2 when the keyword appears under requirements or qualifications.
What counts as a matchThe keyword or a known alias (JS and JavaScript, ML and machine learning) anywhere on your resume, including plurals and, in other languages, common word endings.
The scoreCovering half of the weighted keywords gives about 57, covering 70% gives about 75. Most well-matched resumes land between 55 and 80.

What to do with the missing keywords

  1. Keep only what is true

Add a missing keyword only when you really have the skill. Recruiters ask about everything on your resume, and a padded list reads as padding.

  2. Put it where it belongs

Tools go in your skills section. Experience-type keywords work best inside a bullet that shows the result, such as "Ran weekly vendor reviews that cut late orders".

  3. Match again, then check the rest

Paste the updated text and match again. Then run the full resume check, which also reads your format, section headings and dates.

Questions about the keyword matcher

What is a job description keyword matcher?

It is a tool that lists the keywords a job posting asks for and checks which of them appear on your resume. Applicant tracking systems and recruiters search for those words, so a resume that uses the posting's own terms for skills you have is easier to find.

Is the keyword matcher free?

Yes. There is no account, no payment and no daily limit for pasted text. The match runs in your browser, so it costs us nothing to run it again after every edit.

Do you store my resume or the job description?

No. Pasted text is matched in your browser and is never sent to Ruubu. If you upload a PDF or DOCX file, it is sent to our server only to turn it into text, and the file is not saved.

What is a good keyword match score?

75 or higher means you cover most of the keywords the posting weighs most. Between 50 and 74 is a partial match: check the missing list for skills you have but did not name. Below 50 the resume and the posting point in different directions. Do not aim for 100: real resumes word the same skill differently.

Should I add every missing keyword to my resume?

No. Add the ones that are true for you, in the section where they belong, and leave the rest. Listing skills you do not have can get you through a filter and then stopped in the interview.

Does it work for job postings in other languages?

Yes, for postings in English, Turkish, German, French, Spanish and Portuguese. When your resume and the posting are in different languages, only tools and named skills are compared, because ordinary words do not match across languages. Postings in other languages are also compared on tools and named skills only.
