Accessibility statement
We want everyone to be able to check, build and download a resume on Ruubu, including people who use a screen reader, a keyboard, voice control, zoom or high-contrast settings.

Our goal
We design and test Ruubu against WCAG 2.1 Level AA, the most widely used set of web accessibility guidelines. It covers things like text contrast, keyboard use, clear names for buttons and fields, and pages that still work when you zoom in.
This statement is our own assessment, not a certification by an outside body.
Current status
Ruubu is partially conformant with WCAG 2.1 Level AA: some parts of the site do not fully meet the standard yet. We list the ones we know about below and update the list when one is fixed.
How we test
- Automated checks with axe on every type of page, on the public site and in the signed-in app, at desktop and phone widths.
- Manual checks with the keyboard only: moving through each page, opening and closing menus and dialogs, and checking that focus is always visible.
- Pages at 320 pixels wide, with larger text spacing, and with reduced motion switched on.
- A contrast check of every text and background colour in our design system.
- A shorter automated check of key pages is part of our test suite, so new changes are checked too.

Known limitations
These parts do not fully meet WCAG 2.1 Level AA yet. We are working on them.
Moving illustrations
Videos and animationA few illustrations move gently for longer than five seconds and have no pause button. They stay still when your device is set to reduce motion.

PDF downloads
DownloadsDownloaded PDF resumes are tagged and read in the right order in our checks. Two gaps remain: some templates space out the letters of section headings, which a few screen readers read letter by letter, and the free plan's small watermark is not marked as decoration. The DOCX download (see Other formats) avoids both.

Payment and sign-in pages
Other companies' pagesPayments happen on Stripe's checkout page, and signing in with Google or another account provider happens on that company's page. We don't control how accessible those pages are.
Other formats
Your resume is real text everywhere on Ruubu, never a picture of text: in the editor, in the preview and in the PDF you download.
With Resume Pass or Pro you can also download your resume as a Word file (DOCX), which you can read and edit with a screen reader in Word, Google Docs or LibreOffice.
