Fast Food Crew Member resume example

Fast food shift managers hire for reliability, speed and safe food. Your crew member resume should say which stations you can work (register, drive-thru, grill, fryer, prep), how fast and accurate you are, and when you can show up. For a first job, school attendance, sports, volunteering and a food handler card stand in for experience. Put your availability where a manager sees it in five seconds.

Pick the one closest to your level and replace the specifics with your own.

Common mistakes on a fast food crew member resume

  • Hiding your availability at the bottom

Fix: Fast food schedules are built around lunch and dinner rushes, late nights and weekends. Put your days and times under your name or in the summary: "Available weekdays 4 to 10 p.m., weekends any time, full time in summer." Be honest, because a manager will build the schedule around what you write.

  • Writing "hard worker" instead of naming stations

Fix: Every applicant calls themselves a hard worker. Name the stations you can run and what you did there: "Ran the fryer and bagging station during the Friday dinner rush, filling about 180 orders in two hours." A manager reading that knows where to put you on your first shift.

  • Leaving out food safety

Fix: Temperature logs, hand-washing, glove changes, allergen requests, cleaning schedules and holding times are part of every shift. A bullet about how you follow them, plus a food handler card if you have one, tells a manager you will not cause problems on inspection day. Mention any inspection your station passed.

  • Skipping the closing and cleaning work

Fix: If you close, list how many nights a week and the tasks: breaking down the grill, filtering fryer oil, mopping, restocking for the morning crew. It shows you can finish a shift well without being checked on, which is what crew trainer and shift leader roles build on.

What should a fast food crew member resume include?

A fast food crew member resume should open with a two or three line summary of your focus, then show each role as results rather than duties. Name the skills the posting asks for, such as Front Counter, Drive-Thru Headset and Grill. Start bullets with verbs like Prepared, Assembled and Served, and give each one a number where you honestly have one. If you hold a credential such as ServSafe Food Handler, list it in its own section.

Fast Food Crew Member resume bullet examples

  • Took 120 drive-thru orders on a typical dinner rush, keeping order accuracy above 98% on manager spot checks.

  • Filled 60 mobile and delivery orders per evening, checking every bag against the ticket before handoff.

How to stand out as a fast food crew member applicant

Tailor every application to the posting: the resume, the cover letter and the answers you prepare for the interview.

  • Fit the resume to the restaurant's stations

Read the posting or hiring page for the stations and shifts they need. If they mention drive-thru and late nights, put those first. If you apply to several restaurants, keep one master resume and change the summary and top bullet for each. Use the same words they use, like "team member" or "crew member." Match your resume to a crew posting

  • Add a short note, especially for a first job

If the application lets you add a note or cover letter, use it, especially when this is your first job. Say which location you want, your availability, how you will get there and one sentence about why you will be reliable, such as your school attendance or a coach who can vouch for you. Four or five sentences is enough. Write a short cover letter

  • Prepare for quick questions

Crew interviews can be short, sometimes ten minutes. Expect questions about availability, how you would handle an angry customer, what you would do if a coworker did not show up and why you want the job. Dress neatly, arrive ten minutes early and bring your food handler card if you have one. Ask when the next training starts. Practice crew member interview questions

  • Write a summary that works without job history

With little or no job history, the summary does the heavy lifting. Combine three things: proof of reliability, proof of speed or teamwork, and your availability. Draft a few versions and keep the one a busy manager can read in a single glance between orders. Update it once you have your first job so it names your stations. Write a first-job summary

Fast Food Crew Member resume questions

What do I put on a fast food resume if I have never had a job?

Use school, sports, clubs, volunteering and odd jobs like babysitting or yard work. Each one can show reliability, teamwork or handling money. Give a number where you can, such as your attendance rate or how many families you served at a concession stand. Put your availability at the top and list a coach, teacher or volunteer leader who can speak for you.

Should I put my age on a fast food resume if I am under 18?

You do not need to list your age. Federal rules bar workers under 18 from some kitchen equipment and limit school-week hours for 14- and 15-year-olds, and many states add their own hour limits. So list the hours you can legally work, such as "weekdays 4 to 7 p.m. during school, more in summer," and mention a work permit if your state requires one.

Is a food handler card required for fast food jobs?

It depends on where you work. Some states and counties require food workers to get a food handler card within a set time after hire, while others leave it to the employer, and many restaurants run their own training. A course like ServSafe Food Handler is quick to finish and shows a manager you already know the basics. Check your state's rule before you apply.

How do I show speed and accuracy on a crew member resume?

Use the numbers the restaurant tracks: drive-thru service time, orders handled during a rush, order accuracy from manager spot checks and remakes avoided. A line like "took about 120 drive-thru orders on a dinner rush with 98% accuracy" shows both at once. If you helped cut service time, say by how many seconds.

Will fast food experience help me get other jobs later?

Yes, when you describe it well. Crew work shows you can show up on time, work fast under pressure, handle cash, follow food safety rules and deal with upset customers. Those carry over to retail, warehouse, hotel and office jobs. If you become a crew trainer or shift leader, that adds leadership you can point to in any field.
