Resume Genius alternative: tailor each resume to the job you want

Resume Genius is a guided builder with many free tools, a 14-day trial with a refund window and phone support. Its AI writes from a job title. Ruubu works from the actual posting: it shows what is missing, then helps you write the resume, letter and interview prep for it.

Ruubu is our product, so read this with that in mind. Every statement about Resume Genius links to a public source, listed at the end of the page. We are not affiliated with Resume Genius.

Is Ruubu a good Resume Genius alternative?

Yes, if you want help for one specific posting. Resume Genius's AI writes from a job title, and its checker takes no job description; Ruubu matches your resume to a job link for free. Resume Genius's 14-day refund window, $95.40 annual plan and phone support are genuine strengths.

Sources for each claim are numbered in the tables below.

What Resume Genius offers

Resume Genius's price page offers a 14-day trial for $2.95 that auto-renews at $23.95 billed every four weeks, or $95.40 for 12 months ($7.95 a month) that renews annually. It accepts credit cards only.

Free users can build a resume and download it as a text file, and use a resume checker, summary and bullet generators and fill-in templates for Word and Google Docs. PDF and Word downloads from the builder need the trial.

The price page offers a full refund if you ask within 14 days, and the terms describe the same window, requested by phone, email or live chat. After cancelling, the terms say documents become view-only: you cannot download, print or edit them.[1][2][3]

When Resume Genius is the better choice

  • A longer trial than most Bold-style builders (14 days) with a stated 14-day refund window.
  • A low annual price ($95.40 a year) if you need the builder for a long search.
  • Many free tools: resume checker, summary and bullet generators, and fill-in Word and Google Docs templates.
  • A toll-free phone line with posted hours, plus live chat and email.

Why people switch to Ruubu

  • One posting, a complete application

Paste a job link and Ruubu shows which requirements your resume already proves and which it misses. Fix them in the editor, get a tailored copy on Pro, and write the cover letter and interview prep for the same job. Resume Genius lists no tool that tailors a resume to a specific posting.

Try it with a job link

  • Check before you pay

The free checker scores your resume out of 100 on 14 fixed rules, with no account, and lists each fix. Resume Genius's checker grades format and content but takes no job description.

    Run the free check

  • Interview prep from your own experience

The Resume Pass builds an interview kit for the role: the questions it is likely to ask and answer outlines drawn from your bullets. Resume Genius lists no interview prep on the pages we read.

  • Billing you can predict

The Resume Pass starts with a 7-day free trial, and we email you before the trial ends. Ruubu bills once a month ($7.99/mo for the Resume Pass), you cancel in one click in Settings, and your first payment is refundable in full for 7 days. Resume Genius renews every four weeks after its trial; your files stay downloadable on Ruubu's free plan after you cancel.
