How to cancel a Resume Genius subscription
Resume Genius's trial lasts 14 days and then renews every four weeks. Its FAQ gives a four-step cancellation in your account, and its support page lists phone, email and live chat. One detail matters: download your files first.
This guide is written by Ruubu, a different resume tool. The steps come from Resume Genius's own help and legal pages, linked under Sources. We are not affiliated with Resume Genius and cannot cancel for you.
How do I cancel my Resume Genius subscription?
Log in, open the profile icon, choose My Account, then My Subscription and Cancel Subscription. Phone (866) 215-9048, email and live chat also work. Download your documents before cancelling: Resume Genius's terms say they become view-only afterwards. The trial renews at $23.95 every four weeks.
Before you cancel
- Download every resume and cover letter you want to keep from Resume Genius first. Its terms say that after cancellation you can only view documents, not download, print or edit them.
- Check the trial end date: $2.95 covers 14 days, then $23.95 is billed every four weeks; the annual plan renews yearly.
- If you want a refund, request it before the 14-day term ends.
- Requests by email or phone are processed within 1 to 2 business days, per the support page, so do not leave it to the last day.
What you are paying
The plans on Resume Genius's own price page, so you know which renewal you are stopping.
Cancel in your account
- 1.Log in to your Resume Genius account.
- 2.Select the profile icon and click My Account to open your account settings.
- 3.Select My Subscription at the top of the window.
- 4.Click Cancel Subscription and follow the instructions.[3]
Refunds
The price page says to let Resume Genius know within 14 days for a full refund. The terms say a full refund may be provided to customers still within their 14-day subscription term, requested by phone, email or live chat before the trial term ends, and that the remaining part of a subscription is not refundable.[1][5]
After you cancel
Cancellations take effect at the end of the current paid term. After that, the terms say you can only view your documents; you cannot download, print or edit them.[5]
Common situations
You are still in the 14-day trial. Download your documents, cancel in My Subscription, and ask for a full refund by phone, email or live chat before the trial term ends, as the terms require.
The trial has renewed at $23.95. Cancel now so the next four-weekly charge does not follow; the terms say the remaining part of a subscription is not refundable.
You need your files after cancelling. Download them before the paid term ends: afterwards the terms allow viewing only.
You cannot sign in. Call (866) 215-9048 on weekdays, email support@resumegenius.com or use LiveChat; requests are processed within 1 to 2 business days.[5][1][4]
What to check on your bank statement
We found no billing descriptor on Resume Genius's pricing, terms or support pages. Its terms say:
Names the company says can appear on a statement
- US payments may be processed by Tripod Jet, LLC
- Match the amount and the date: a charge every 4 weeks moves a little earlier each month, so it will not land on the same day as a monthly bill.
- If your card is in another currency, your bank may add a conversion fee or show a slightly different amount from the list price.
- If a charge appears after you cancelled, contact the company first and quote your cancellation confirmation; keep a copy of every reply.
- If that does not resolve it, your card issuer can explain its dispute process. Ask them before the dispute window on your card closes.
